Discussion:
After my teammates shared each of their research idea, we concluded that Priya's idea was the best which was Bio-based materials used in construction industry
Research:
As there are multiple bio-based materials being used right now in the industry, our team focus on 1 specific material called hempcrete.
Upon choosing Hempcrete, I used Chatgpt to understand more about the material. Below are the prompt i asked chatgpt:
-What is hempcrete and how do we use it?
-What is hemp and how do we grow it?
-Does hempcrete absorb co2 during curing process?
-Is hemp weed?
-Is hempcrete cheap?
-Why is hempcrete more expensive?
-Any possible way to reduce cost of hemp?
-Advantages of hempcrete?
-Disadvantages of hempcrete?
-Why is hempcrete ideal in construction industry?
-Why should we use hempcrete instead of traditional construction material like steel and concrete?
-What structures are suitable for hempcrete?
Below are some of the responses I got from Chatgpt:
What is hempcrete and how do we use it?
- Hempcrete is a lightweight bio-composite material made from hemp hurds (the woody inner core of the hemp plant)

How to use hempcrete?
- In mixing
 - In application
 - Wall Insulation
 - Flooring
 - Roof Insulation
 - Curing
 - Finishing

- sustainable
 - energy-efficient
 - highly durable
 - provides excellent insulation
 - fire-resistant
 - pest-resistant
 - mold-resistant

What limitations does hempcrete has?
- Not Load-Bearing
 - Higher Initial Cost
 - Longer Drying Time
 - Limited Availability

Is hempcrete cheap?
- Hempcrete can be more expensive upfront than conventional building materials like concrete or fiberglass insulation, but it offers long-term savings.

- Grow More Hemp Locally
 - Scale Production
 - Use Cheaper Binders
 - Improve Construction Methods
 - Reuse Hemp Byproducts
 - Push for Government Support

Why is hempcrete ideal in construction industry?
- Hempcrete is ideal for the construction industry because it is sustainable, energy-efficient, and highly durable.

Why should we use hempcrete instead of traditional construction material like steel and concrete?
- Eco-Friendly & Carbon Negative
 - Fire & Pest Resistant
 - Energy Efficient
 - Breathable & Moisture Regulating
 - Lightweight & Low Maintenance
 - Biodegradable & Sustainable

What structures are suitable for hempcrete?
- Timber Frame
 - Steel Frame
 - Concrete Frame
 - Hybrid Frame (Timber + Steel)
 - Masonry or Brick Frame

Tech Report:
Upon consultation with Prof Bradstone, he suggested that my team should talk about the other sustainable materials being used and why we ultimately decided to focus on Hempcrete.
So i prompt Chatgpt to give me some sustainable material used in the industry which are Cross-Laminated Timber, Bamboo, and Ferrock.
I also did a part on how changing to sustainable material will benefit our climate.
Under evaluation, I also did some research and found out the main reason why Singapore is not using Hempcrete is due to legal reason and one of South-East Asia country which is trying to grow Hempcrete is Thailand.
-Did a draft of concluding statement
-Refine our problem statement
-Did a draft of background
Wen Han, Thanks for this, but you have not described your research contributions and what you have actually done. I want to know the process of your research.
